I am pleased to announce that Woodland Hills Academy has joined with the Los Angeles Unified School District’s I Design Division. Schools in the I Design Division receive all the advantages of being a charter school without leaving the school district.

Woodland Hills Academy is the only school located within the San Fernando Valley that has been accepted into this division under the direction of the Superintendent. The school has partnered up with Local District 1 and will draw up a formal Memorandum of Understanding guaranteeing the school the same rights and privileges as charter schools.

We have autonomy in determining our standards-based curriculum; have increased flexibility in hiring; increased ability to use school budgets; ability to determine school day, bell schedules, calendars and enrichment programming.  As a member of the I Design Division, we will be free from all district mandates and will work with the district to ensure that all appropriate state monies go directly to the school. In addition, we now have the ability to create our own professional development tailored to the needs of your children.

WHA may now apply for any grant that appeals to us and we may now purchase products and supplies from vendors of our choice.
Our school is a leader in school reform and we have developed partnerships within the local community that help our students focus on careers that will be available to them when they graduate from college. All students attending the school receive a rigorous academic education supported by the best available research and we ensure that all students leave this school knowing how to take notes, study, and to do academic research.
